When living in a hard water area, dealing with the buildups it causes becomes a very regular struggle. Hard water build ups are caused by minerals in the water such as calcium and magnesium. These stains tend to appear on glass, porcelain, tiles and metal surfaces. Meaning things such as taps or tiles in bathrooms will often end up looking ugly or decolourised. Fear not however as we have found 4 different solutions to get rid of hard water build ups.
The first one from wikihow.life is to mix a solution of half water and half vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray over larger areas such as tiles or the bathtub and leave for a few minutes. The vinegar will break down the minerals in the hard water and leave it easy to wipe off.
Next is a tip from maidbrigade.com who recommend making a paste from vinegar and baking soda. Apply the paste to where the stain is such as around the base of a tap or sink and leave it for 15 minutes. After this scrub clean and rinse with water. Ensure you dry the area thoroughly to remove the possibility of more hard water marks.
Our next tip for the day comes from thespruce, com. They recommend soaking a clean rag in vinegar and drape it over a faucet. Let the rag sit for at least half an hour however an hour is recommended. After this time, remove the rag and use a non scratch sponge to lightly scrub, paying special attention to those areas with greater deposits. This process can be repeated if needed until the area is free from build ups.
Maidbrigade.com has one final tip to give. Their final solution is to spray fresh lemon juice on the affected area. After 10 minutes rinse the area off and you should see lighter areas of buildup have been removed. Make sure you dry the area completely after this process.
All of these tips and so many more can be found in our blog section or on our social media pages. Be sure to follow us to not miss out.

The government has made it clear that cleaners are still permitted to work inside peoples' homes as long as Government Guidelines on social distancing and staying safe are followed (see below). In summary:
You can be outside of your home for work purposes where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home, including if your job involves working in other people's homes.
The full text can be found here New National Restrictions from 5 January (in England; there are similar texts available for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Specifically relating to cleaners, the guidance continues: 'This guidance applies to those working in, visiting or delivering to home environments. These include, but are not limited to, people working in the following areas:
Note this guidance is for people who are fit and well, and is dependent on the following social distancing guidelines being followed:
The good news with regard to cleaning is that the cleaners can social distance from their clients very easily, and we would advise that, if you are at home when they are there, that you remain in a separate room to your cleaner.
If you are happy to adhere to the government guidelines - and if your cleaner has not been in touch already - then please just call the office and we will ensure that your cleaning continues.
